Creeture Comforts Scope of Services (effective July 1, 2009)
Creeture Comforts' office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on weekends by appointment. We are also available to meet with clients at their home during regular business hours, weekday evenings and weekend days.
Our standard pet sitting service hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., unless we're providing overnight care. Upon request, we may able to come as early as 7 a.m. or as late as 9 p.m. for an additional fee of $7 per visit.
Our territory encompasses all of Simsbury, Avon, Canton, Burlington, northern half of Farmington, western Bloomfield, and most of Granby and East Granby. If our closest sitter must travel more than 10 miles each way to care for your pets, a mileage premium may be added to the basic fee.
In-Home Pet Sitting Services
Before we can start in-home services, we must meet with you and your pets at your home to obtain instructions, assess the amount of time involved and get to know your best friends. We'll ask you to fill out some forms, which may be downloaded from this Web site's Documents page (Agreement for Services and Guidelines & Policies).
During that first meeting, you select the number of visits and types of services you'd like us to provide, which may include any or all of the following:
- Feed your pets
- Replenish their water
- Dispense medications
- Scoop the poop/clean the litter box
- Check for any health problems
- Exercise and/or play with them
- Bring in the paper, mail, packages
- Turn lights, radio, TV on/off; open and close blinds/curtains
- Water plants, indoors or out
- Write daily log/provide check list of duties
If you'd prefer having someone on the premises overnight, one of our sitters may be available to accommodate you. The basic overnight fee of $60 includes morning and evening care, in addition to the sleepover period. If your pet also needs a mid-day visit, please add $15 to the overnight fee.
If you'd prefer having someone on the premises overnight, one of our sitters may be available to accommodate you (see pricing below).
Dog Walking
Would you like a dog as tired as you are when you get home from work? Just call Creeture Comforts! We'll give your dog (or dogs) the kind of regular exercise you may not be able to because you work long hours, travel a lot or just can't do it for any reason.
We can walk your dog as many times a week (or day) as you like. And there's a 10% discount if you pay for the entire month on or before the 10th (minimum 4 visits).
Doggie Day Care
On our 3-acre property, we have about an acre of lush, tree-shaded lawn that's surrounded by a Cape Cod fence, where your dog can run and play with other well-socialized canines. Note: puppies must be at least 4 months old with all shots current; mature dogs must be neutered or spayed. We also have a small indoor play area in the same building that houses our office should the weather prevent us from enjoying the great outdoors!
Doggie Day Camp
From Memorial Day to Labor Day we offer Doggie Day Camp (see site page).
Home-Like Dog Boarding: Creeture Comforts at Great Pond Mew
We can take up to four dogs overnight at "The Mew." Why so few? To conform to Simsbury zoning laws and because dogs are in an open environment. We do not have a traditional kennel with individual runs, so every dog must be well-socialized and adaptable to new surroundings. If you're not sure how your dog will do here, you're welcome to bring him or her over for a "try-out" at no charge.
Your best friend will stay in a homey environment in the small building that houses the Creeture Comforts office. It comprises a small sitting room, general office area, bathroom, back room and unfinished garage space which is used as a play room. There is also a doggie door that opens to a small fenced area, where they can do their "business" and play outdoors anytime they wish.
We carefully screen our canine guests for good social behavior, spay/neutering, reliable house training and current vaccinations. Preference is given to those who are crate-trained. An interview at The Mew is required prior to making a reservation or scheduling a try-out.
To apply for boarding, fill out the forms on the Documents page of this Web site: Boarding Agreement and Boarding Q&A. When you come for the interview, be sure to bring proof of current vaccinations, including Bordatella within the previous six months.
When you're ready to bring your pooch for boarding at The Mew, please bring
- Enough food (and treats, if desired) to last while you're away (plus a little extra)
- Any medications or other special items they may need
- A crate pad or blanket, or a non-toy item, with the familiar scents of home.
We do not recommend bringing toys, bones or chews as they may get lost, destroyed or spark a fight.
Most of our canine guests thoroughly enjoy their stay here and often don't want to go home when their parents pick them up. However, there are a few who don't adjust well to the surroundings or being around other dogs, creating disturbances or damaging property even after a successful tryout.
If your dog engages in excessive barking, especially at night or in the early morning hours, destroys property, urinates and/or defecates indoors, or otherwise becomes a nuisance, we reserve the right to transfer the dog to a local boarding facility, or to your home for in-home pet visits, whichever you prefer.
